A Wicked Gala, a 'Wickedly Magical Evening in Oz,' takes place on Saturday, May 19, beginning at 6:00 p.m. The Sacramento Convention Center Ballroom, 1400 J Street in Sacramento, will be transformed for the evening into the "Oz Dust Ballroom," themed after the hit Broadway show Wicked, which begins performances at Community Center Theater on May 23.

The Gala event will benefit California Musical Theatre, which brings top quality theatrical experiences to Broadway Sacramento, Music Circus and The Cosmopolitan Cabaret, and provides valuable theatre education programs for the Sacramento community through the CMT Academy.

The event, which is Black Tie (or Green Tie) Optional, begins with a cocktail reception at 6:00 p.m., followed by an elegant dinner at 7:00 p.m. Live entertainment will feature Sacramento native Teal Wicks, who starred in Wicked on Broadway, in San Francisco and in Los Angeles, and who currently lives in New York City. The band Hip Service will also perform. There will be a live auction with David Sobon Auctions. Auction items include an opening night package for 4 to the hit Broadway show Book of Mormon in Los Angeles and an opportunity to meet Peter Pan star Cathy Rigby and actually fly like Peter Pan over the stage at Community Center Theater.

Reservations can be made by calling (916) 446-5880, Ext. 123 no later than May 15.

A Wicked Gala Title Sponsor is Wells Fargo Bank. Presenting Sponsor is Kitchell; and Supporting Sponsors are William and Claudia Cummings.
