Grease, the satirical Broadway hit that launched the movie musical sensation starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, is now playing at the Wells Fargo Pavilion through July 1. With book, music and lyrics by Jim Jacobs and WarRen Casey, Grease gets the 2012 Music Circus season off to a singing, dancing, high energy start. Playing Sandy in this Music Circus production will be Kirsten Scott, who has appeared on Broadway in the recent revival of Follies and Hairspray. Danny will be played by Brandon Albright, who starred in the recent production of The Buddy Holly Story, directed by Glenn Casale. Playing Betty Rizzo will be 2009 Laurence Olivier Award-winner Lesli Margherita, who was last at Music Circus in the 2010 production of Spamalot. Playing Kenickie will be Michael D. Jablonski. Robert J. Townsend will play Vince Fontaine/Teen Angel. Beth Malone will play Marty, and playing Sonny LaTierri will be Joe Abraham. Melissa WolfKlain will play Jan, Keven Quillon will play Roger, and Frenchy will be played by Melissa Fahn. John Pinto Jr. will play Doody, Jill Townsend will play Patty Simcox, Eugene Florczyk will be played by Jeff Skowron, Cynthia Ferrer will play Miss Lynch, and Cha-Cha DiGregorio will be played by Dana Solimando.
Music Circus productions are presented at the Wells Fargo Pavilion, 1419 H Street in Sacramento. Performances are Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday at 7:30 p.m., Thursday through Saturday at 8 p.m., and Thursday and Saturday at 2 p.m. Tickets start at $30.
